Why is it important to collect leaves from grass?

I totally appreciate that autumnal leaves can be the last rays of colour in your garden and during a crisp, cold day are a crunchy pathway. But your grass is a living organism, requiring both air and sunlight to create food, and grow. Allowing thick piles of leaves to gather on your lawn will prevent sunlight from reaching the grass, therefore suffocating it.

By raking your leaves, you’re preventing fungus, potential disease, and the possibility of grass dying from suffocation. A little effort in collecting leaves now will mean you have a head start on a healthy, green lawn for 2021.

Once collected put those leaves to good use. Shred them and add them to your compost pile so they can decompose and result in nutrients for your garden borders.

We offer a new service which will blow leaves from your flower borders and hoover them up. It’s simple and effective leaving your garden looking smart and tidy. We are also able to clear leaves from artificial lawns as well as hard surfaces such as drives, paths and car parks. Why not get in touch and have a chat about what we can do for you.
